Rasamny, CMA CGM chief discuss maritime transport, logistics cooperation in Marseille
Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny held talks with CMA CGM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rodolphe Saadé during his official visit to Marseille, in the presence of French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot and Beirut Port Chairman and Director General Marwan Naffi, at the group’s headquarters.
The meeting focused on ways to strengthen Lebanese-French cooperation in maritime transport and logistics, as well as the main challenges facing the maritime sector and opportunities to enhance its development in line with global trends. Discussions also covered improving supply chain efficiency, facilitating trade flows, enhancing port performance and advancing logistics services to strengthen connectivity across the Mediterranean.
The participants exchanged views on the evolving global maritime and logistics landscape and explored ways to improve port efficiency and develop logistics services in support of regional trade.
CMA CGM currently manages and develops the container terminals at the ports of Beirut and Tripoli, while equipping both facilities with advanced technologies and equipment to enhance operational efficiency and reinforce Lebanon’s position on the global maritime shipping map.
The meeting formed part of Rasamny’s series of engagements in France aimed at strengthening cooperation with international partners and reviewing the latest expertise and best practices in the maritime transport sector, in line with the ministry’s efforts to modernise Lebanon’s ports and enhance their role in supporting the national economy.
