Agriculture Minister Nizar Hani toured Nabatieh to assess damage caused by Israeli attacks, focusing on affected agricultural areas and public institutions.
Hani said the agricultural sector was among the hardest hit, with 22.5% of Lebanon’s farmland, around 56,000 hectares, damaged, mostly in South Lebanon and Nabatieh. He estimated agricultural losses at more than $1 billion and announced immediate support for farmers, including financial aid, labor assistance, rehabilitation of 1,500 plastic greenhouses and 50 water wells equipped with solar-powered pumps.
He also announced renewed testing of soil, water and crops after previous analyses detected glyphosate levels up to 50–60 times above normal in some border areas.
