The Ministry of Agriculture announced in a statement that, as part of its efforts to strengthen agricultural cooperation with Arab countries and expand market opportunities for Lebanese products, Minister of Agriculture Dr. Nizar Hani received Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Dosari.

The meeting focused on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector, strengthen the partnership between the two countries, and activate mechanisms for technical coordination and the exchange of expertise in agricultural production, plant and animal health, and food safety, in line with international best standards and practices.

According to the statement, the meeting addressed the practical measures aimed at completing the necessary requirements to create suitable conditions for the resumption and expansion of Lebanese agricultural exports to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in a manner that ensures the smooth flow of trade exchanges in accordance with the highest standards of quality and safety, strengthens the presence of Lebanese products in Gulf markets, supports farmers, stimulates the agricultural economy, and increases the added value of national production.

Minister Hani briefed the Saudi ambassador on the course of communications and coordination between the Ministries of Agriculture of Lebanon and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has witnessed significant progress at the technical level in recent months, where the two sides agreed to establish official points of contact between them and to form a specialized technical working team from the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture, including experts in the fields of plant and animal production, agricultural and veterinary quarantine, and agro-industries. They also agreed to create a joint electronic platform to facilitate communication and directly follow up on technical matters.

He noted that this cooperation has been translated into a series of virtual meetings between the two sides, attended by senior officials and technical experts, during which they agreed to launch a joint technical work process aimed at completing all the necessary technical and regulatory requirements for the resumption of agricultural trade exchanges, and to establish a clear roadmap outlining the implementation phases and follow-up mechanisms.
