Labor Minister Mohammad Haidar chaired an expanded meeting at the National Social Security Fund with representatives of doctors, private hospitals and the fund’s administration to discuss healthcare coverage and reimbursement.
Haidar said the ministry and the fund are pursuing a fast-track reform agenda, highlighting the revision of the medical tariff schedule and the continued payment of financial advances every 15 days, now covering 90% of claims. He also announced a review of drug reimbursement rates and urged healthcare providers not to charge unjustified additional fees to insured patients.
NSSF Director General Mohammad Karaki said a committee would begin reviewing medical costs to produce updated tariffs within three months. Representatives of doctors and private hospitals welcomed the ongoing dialogue while calling for fairer tariffs that reflect actual healthcare costs.
