Former Minister and MP Walid Jumblatt, and Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Taymour Jumblatt, met with the French Presidential Envoy to Lebanon, Jean-Yves Le Drian, during a dinner held in their honor at the French Embassy in Beirut, in the presence of Democratic Gathering MP Wael Abu Faour and French Ambassador to Lebanon, Hervé Magro.
According to a statement by the Progressive Socialist Party’s Media Commission, discussions emphasized the need for full adherence to the ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal from all Lebanese territories, and ensuring the safe and dignified return of southern Lebanon residents to their towns and villages.
The participants also stressed the need for the Lebanese state to fulfill its responsibilities toward the displaced by establishing adequate shelter centers, which would contribute to creating the conditions conducive for the launch of the upcoming school year and ensuring students’ right to education.
Jumblatt and the PSP chief also expressed their appreciation for France's support for Lebanon, and thanked France for its continued efforts to bolster Lebanon's internal stability and strengthen the unity of its people and institutions.
