Interior Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar expressed hope that Lebanon will soon overcome its current crisis and that the ceasefire will hold, paving the way for stability and the safe return of displaced residents to their towns and villages.
Speaking during a meeting with the mayor of Khiam, Abbas Ali, and members of the municipal council, Al-Hajjar noted that Khiam, like many southern communities, paid a heavy price during the war. He stressed that Lebanese citizens have repeatedly demonstrated their ability to overcome adversity and rebuild despite difficult circumstances.
The minister emphasized that Lebanon’s only refuge lies in its state institutions, calling for the extension of state authority and sovereignty across all Lebanese territory under the rule of law.
The meeting also addressed municipal needs, including allocations from the Independent Municipal Fund, support for displaced families, and assistance for municipalities during the next phase of recovery and reconstruction.
