Aoun Reveals Suspension of Negotiations, Credits Rubio for Resumption
President of the Republic General Joseph Aoun revealed that “the implementation of a ceasefire could begin within 24 hours of final approval.”
He said: “We are awaiting responses from all concerned parties and guarantees of commitment and implementation of the ceasefire.”
Aoun noted that “yesterday’s negotiations were very difficult, and the head of the Lebanese delegation, Simon Karam, suspended the talks, after which US Secretary of State Marco Rubio intervened to resume them.”
