The Israeli Army announced that yesterday in Beirut it carried out an airstrike that “eliminated Hassan Ali Marwan, who served as the commander of the Imam Hussein Brigade after the previous commander was killed about a week ago.”
It added: “Hassan Marwan previously held the position of operations officer in the brigade and assumed its leadership following the elimination of the former commander, Ali Muslim Tabaja, and his deputy, Jihad Al-Safira, along with a series of other leaders. During Operation Northern Arrows, another former commander, Dhulfiqar, who preceded Tabaja, was also eliminated, making Marwan the third brigade commander to be killed since that operation.”
The statement continued: “Marwan was responsible for coordinating between the brigade and the military leadership of Hezbollah and Iran’s Quds Force. He oversaw the launching of rockets, drones, and missile shells toward the State of Israel and Israeli Defense Forces operating in southern Lebanon. In his role as operations officer, he managed force development for all brigade members and directed their deployment in southern Lebanon. The Imam Hussein Brigade is a military force used by Iran’s Quds Force to advance the Iranian regime’s interests and project power against the IDF and Israeli citizens. Targeting the Imam Hussein Brigade represents a significant blow to the military capabilities of both the Iranian regime and Hezbollah in Lebanon and across the Middle East.”
A photo was also released with the announcement.
