  • Tue March 17 2026 7:12 pm

Ministers of Education and Higher Education Rima Karami, Information Paul Morcos, and Administrative Development Affairs Fadi Makki, conducted a field tour that included Zahia Salman High School and Allama Sobhi Saleh Public Intermediate School in Beirut, to inspect the conditions in shelter centers and to secure the basic needs of the displaced families.

During the tour, Minister of Education Karami announced that more than 400 educational facilities, including schools, secondary schools and technical institutes, have been placed at the disposal of the Relief Authority to host displaced persons, emphasizing the Ministry's commitment to the principle of educating every child at any moment. She also noted the launch of remote learning initiatives in some schools in border areas, such as Al-Khiam School, to ensure that the academic year is not lost for displaced students.

Karami said: Today we are conducting an inspection tour of the shelter centers to closely examine the conditions of our people who were forced to leave their homes and villages due to the aggression. What we see today is a true humanitarian tragedy, but at the same time, we witness a genuine embodiment of national unity and solidarity among the Lebanese.

Karami added: We have listened to the demands of the displaced, which are legitimate and simple, related to dignified living and securing basic necessities such as healthcare, food, and adequate shelter. For our part, we affirm that we will spare no effort in following up on these demands with the relevant authorities and working to ensure that aid reaches all eligible recipients in a fair and transparent manner.

The Minister also saluted and expressed appreciation to all volunteers, associations and individual initiatives present on the ground, proving that the Lebanese people, despite all the crises, remain committed to their humanity and patriotism.

She cocluded: Our message today is one of resilience. We remain in our land, and we will overcome this ordeal, as we have overcome others, thanks to our awareness, solidarity, and standing united behind our national institutions.

For his part, Minister Morcos emphasized the importance of the role played by the media at this critical stage, urging media institutions to avoid hate speech and incitement, and focus on strengthening national unity and clearly conveying the needs of the displaced to donors and supporters.

Minister Morcos also affirmed the government's commitment to constitutionally guaranteed media freedoms, while emphasizing the necessity of abiding by the law to preserve civil peace.

For his part, the Minister of State for Administrative Development emphasized that the Ministry is working on developing digital coordination mechanisms among the various ministries to ensure a rapid response and avoid duplication in the provision of aid, stressing that the priority is to overcome all administrative obstacles that could hinder the work of field teams, highlighting the need to establish a transparent and clear mechanism to document the needs of the displaced and ensure that their rights reach them with dignity.

In conclusion, the ministers affirmed that the government is working as one team through intensive daily meetings to monitor the situation on the ground, noting that coordination among the relevant ministries aims to create a comprehensive safety net that protects the displaced and supports their resilience in this critical period.
