Dar Al-Fatwa: Friday Marks the First Day of Eid al-Fitr
Dar Al-Fatwa issued the following statement:
The Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted. Therefore, Thursday, March 19, 2026, will complete the month of Ramadan at thirty days, and Friday, March 20, 2026, will mark the first day of Eid al-Fitr for the year 1447 AH.
We congratulate all Muslims on this blessed occasion and pray to Allah Almighty to accept their fasting, prayers, good deeds, and supplications, and to grant them, and all Lebanese, goodness, security, and peace. Indeed, He is All-Hearing, All-Responding.
The Grand Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Daryan, has assigned the Secretary of Fatwa in Lebanon, Sheikh Amin Al-Kurdi, to lead the Eid al-Fitr prayer and deliver the sermon at 6:30 a.m. on the day of Eid at the Khatem Al-Anbiya wal-Mursaleen Muhammad Al-Amin Mosque in central Beirut.
The Grand Mufti will not be receiving Eid greetings this year.
