Minister of Interior Ahmad Hajjar received a delegation from the Lebanese Press Editors Syndicate, led by Chairman Joseph Al-Qusseifi.
Discussions focused on the ongoing municipal elections, which began in Mount Lebanon, and preparations for the next phases.
Al-Qusseifi praised the Ministry’s impartial handling of the vote, calling it a key test of the new government’s credibility. He also stressed the need to reform the municipal law and improve public services, particularly in the Vehicle Registration Department.
In turn, Minister Hajjar emphasized that holding the elections as scheduled sent a clear message of seriousness and neutrality. The Interior Minister also addressed measures taken to support the return of Gulf tourists and highlighted coordinated efforts to ensure the safe and voluntary return of Syrian refugees.
On the vehicle registration issue, Hajjar pledged reforms and a medium-term plan to restore proper service operations.
