Rajji meets UNIFIL Commander, stresses support for peacekeeping mandate
Minister of Foreign Affairs Youssef Rajji met with UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander, Major General Aroldo Lázaro, and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting focused on the evolving situation in southern Lebanon amid ongoing Israeli violations.
General Lázaro briefed Minister Raggi on the recent activities of UNIFIL and its monitoring of violations of UN Security Council Resolution 1701. He also highlighted the strong cooperation and coordination between UNIFIL and the Lebanese Army, commending the positive relationship between both forces.
Lázaro extended an invitation to Minister Rajji to visit UNIFIL positions in southern Lebanon.
Minister Rajji reaffirmed Lebanon’s commitment to UNIFIL’s role and thanked the mission for its continued efforts in maintaining stability in the south. He emphasized the importance of enabling UNIFIL to carry out its duties in accordance with its Security Council mandate, which is expected to be renewed this August.
