Aoun in Kuwait: A Lebanese Diplomatic Comeback or Just Another Gesture?
Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji described President Joseph Aoun’s upcoming visit to Kuwait as highly symbolic, marking a renewal of ties after years of strained Gulf relations. He praised Kuwait’s longstanding support, especially during Lebanon’s crises and reconstruction phases.
Rajji emphasized the political significance of the UAE’s recent travel ban lift, noting it reflects growing trust in Lebanon’s stability and reforms. He stressed the government’s commitment to restoring sovereignty, implementing reforms, and reasserting the state’s authority across all Lebanese territory.
On relations with Syria, Rajji highlighted progress in border demarcation and mutual respect for sovereignty. He welcomed French support in providing archival documents and expressed hope for enhanced cooperation in reconstruction and economic revival.
Addressing Palestinian arms, Rajji reiterated Lebanon’s right to full sovereignty and coordination with the Palestinian Authority to address the weapons issue inside camps. He concluded by reaffirming Lebanon’s return to balanced foreign policy and its commitment to Gulf partnerships.
