President Aoun: The Israeli Elections And Regional Tensions Have Slowed Negotiations
President Joseph Aoun said that regional and international developments, as well as the Israeli elections, may have slowed the pace of negotiations, but that does not mean they have stopped. Our goal is to serve Lebanon’s interests.
Speaking to a delegation of media students from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK), President Aoun stressed that the role of the media is to convey the message faithfully. Be messengers of truth, do not sell your pens, and act according to your conscience. There is no such thing as absolute freedom, as it would turn into chaos, and national security sets its limits.
He asked: On what basis did the media begin reporting allegations against the Lebanese ambassador to Washington, undermining her personal dignity and the state’s foreign policy over an event that never happened? He added: I am responsible for my actions, and anyone who cannot bear the responsibility of the position they hold should not assume it.
President Aoun concluded: Lebanon’s students and youth are a trust placed in my hands, and I will do the impossible to ensure that you remain in Lebanon.
