Hachem to EU ambassador: We value the various initiatives in support of the Lebanese Army
Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal received EU Ambassador Sandra De Waele and her accompanying delegation at his office in Yarzeh.The meeting focused on developments in Lebanon and the region, as well as the post-UNIFIL phase.
During the meeting, Ambassador De Waele reaffirmed the European Union’s continued support for the military institution and praised the Army’s role in safeguarding security and stability in Lebanon.
For his part, General Haykal welcomed the EU’s various initiatives to support the Lebanese Army, particularly during the current phase.
General Haykal also received Maronite Bishop of Byblos Michel Aoun and his accompanying delegation. Bishop Aoun invited him to attend a Mass marking the centenary of the beatification of the Massabki brothers, to be held at St. George Cathedral in Aqoura.
