Aoun Reviews UNIFIL’s Future, Security Cooperation at Baabda
President of the Republic Joseph Aoun held a series of meetings addressing diplomatic, security, municipal and economic affairs.
Aoun discussed bilateral relations with Lebanon’s Ambassador to Romania Ali Al-Saleh, focusing on prospects for cooperation in the economic, development and social fields, as well as the situation of the Lebanese community in Romania.
The president also received Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Minister Youssef Raggi for talks on ministry affairs and ongoing contacts concerning the future of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, whose operational mandate expires at the end of the year.
In a separate meeting with Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmad Hajjar, Aoun reviewed the country’s general situation, particularly security conditions, as well as preparations for a conference in Paris aimed at supporting the Lebanese Army and Internal Security Forces.
Hajjar stressed the importance of mobilizing the necessary support to strengthen the state’s ability to extend its authority across Lebanese territory and preserve security and stability.
The meeting also addressed the situation of municipalities, particularly in southern Lebanon amid continued Israeli attacks, ways to provide them with necessary support, and measures related to traffic management and road safety.
