The soldier slain overnight was named as Captain David Hazutt, 21, a platoon commander in the Golani Brigade’s 12th Battalion, from Ashkelon, according to a military update.
The military said that another soldier was lightly injured in the same incident.
The injured soldier was taken to hospital for medical treatment, the statement said.
