Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants announced the launch of a new biometric passport service at Lebanese diplomatic missions abroad, in coordination with the General Security Directorate General.
The first phase of the project has begun at Lebanon's embassy in Kuwait, making it the first Lebanese mission overseas to offer biometric fingerprint registration for passport issuance. The service will be gradually rolled out to other embassies and consulates according to a set timetable.
The initiative will allow Lebanese citizens residing abroad to apply for biometric passports without having to travel to Lebanon to complete fingerprint registration.
The Foreign Ministry said the project is part of its efforts to simplify consular procedures, advance digital transformation, and enhance the quality and security of consular services in line with international standards.
Accordingly, Lebanese citizens are encouraged to follow announcements from Lebanese embassies and consulates in their places of residence for updates on the rollout schedule and the required documents for passport applications.
The Foreign Ministry affirmed that the project underscores its commitment to improving consular services for the Lebanese diaspora.
