Reuters cited a US State Department official as saying that “Israel has withdrawn from part of the buffer zone it established in southern Lebanon, and the Israeli withdrawal is a gesture of goodwill toward the Lebanese government.”
The US State Department official said, “The Lebanese Army must take action in the area from which Israel has withdrawn.”
