The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants announced that it had been monitoring, “through the Lebanese Embassy in Caracas, the situation of the Lebanese community in Venezuela in the wake of the major earthquake that struck the country,” and expressed “Lebanon’s deep sorrow and sincere solidarity with Venezuela and its people during this painful ordeal,” offering its sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the disaster and wishing “a speedy recovery to all the injured.”
Minister of Foreign Affairs Youssef Raggi instructed the embassy to “provide all forms of support and assistance to members of the community and to communicate directly with them to check on their well-being and meet their needs.”
Minister Raggi reported that “all Lebanese residents in Venezuela are safe, and no injuries have been reported among them; however, the Lebanese Embassy building in Caracas sustained some material damage as a result of the earthquakes.”
The Ministry announced that it is closely monitoring developments on the ground and confirmed that it will continue to maintain contact with the Lebanese community until the safety of all its citizens has been fully verified.
