The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the joint statement issued today following the ministerial meeting between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the United States of America regarding developments in the region.
The Ministry highly valued the statement content over Lebanon, particularly its welcoming of ongoing US-mediated negotiations between Lebanon and Israel and its emphasis on the importance of maintaining the course of the negotiation process and not linking it to any other conflicts.
The Foreign Ministry also welcomed the statement's assertion that Lebanon's full sovereignty cannot be achieved while non-state armed groups retain military capabilities, as well as its call for the complete disarmament of all such groups and for the Lebanese state to hold the exclusive monopoly on the legitimate use of force.
