A Foggy Start to June? Lebanon’s Weather Takes Another Strange Turn

  • Thu May 28 2026 12:41 pm

The Forecasting Department at the Meteorological Service of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation expected mild spring weather to prevail over Lebanon, with some local fluctuations, due to the flow of relatively cold air masses into the eastern Mediterranean basin, which will gradually ease starting Sunday.

A warning was also issued about high sea waves and the formation of water currents on Friday, especially along the northern coast.

Expected weather in Lebanon:

Thursday:
Partly cloudy to cloudy with high clouds and local fog over the highlands. Temperatures will slightly rise along the coast and drop in the mountains and inland areas. Humidity will increase starting in the afternoon, leading to dense fog over the highlands and thicker cloud cover. Conditions will become favorable for scattered rainfall, especially in northern areas, accompanied by active winds.

Friday:
Partly cloudy to cloudy with an additional drop in temperatures over the mountains and inland regions, falling below seasonal averages. Fog will form over the highlands, while winds will intensify, reaching up to 55 km/h. Sea waves may rise up to two meters along the northern coast. Light scattered rain is also expected, particularly in northern regions.

Saturday:
Partly cloudy with fog over the highlands and a rise in temperatures in the mountains and inland areas, while coastal temperatures remain unchanged. Clouds will thicken in the afternoon over northeastern regions, with conditions becoming favorable for rainfall that may be heavy and accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Sunday:
Mostly clear with local fog over the highlands. Temperatures will slightly decrease along the coast and rise further in the mountains and inland areas, exceeding seasonal averages.

Additional details:
Surface winds: Southwesterly, between 15 and 45 km/h
Visibility: Good along the coast, but occasionally poor over mid-altitude mountains due to fog
Relative humidity on the coast: Between 55% and 80%
Sea conditions: Moderate waves
Sea surface temperature: 21°C
Atmospheric pressure: 1015 hPa (761 mm Hg)
Sunrise: 5:29 am
Sunset: 7:42 pm
