Civil Defense mourns martyr Kamel Zein
The General Directorate of Civil Defense mourned fallen rescuer Kamel Youssef Zein, a member of the Sohmar Volunteer Center – Jeb Jennine Regional Unit, who was killed on May 26, 2026, as a result of an Israeli attack on the town of Qaraoun while carrying out his humanitarian duty.
According to details released, the Israeli strike targeted a civilian traveling on a motorcycle near the Qaraoun Dam. At the same time, Civil Defense member Kamel Youssef Zein happened to be passing by in his car with his family. He immediately got out of the vehicle, leaving his family behind, and rushed to assist the wounded man and perform his humanitarian duty by providing aid.
While carrying out the rescue mission, Israeli warplanes launched a second strike on the same location, critically wounding the Civil Defense member. He later succumbed to his injuries.
