Aoun holds security meeting, Abi Ramia voices support for sovereignty initiatives
President of the Republic Joseph Aoun received General Security director-general Major General Hassan Choucair, who briefed him on the outcome of his visits to France and the United States, as well as on the work and situation within the General Security agency.
Separately, MP Simon Abi Ramia said after meeting Aoun that Lebanon urgently needs stability and national unity around the president’s positions and choices.
Abi Ramia stressed that Aoun’s priority remains the restoration of full Lebanese sovereignty, including Israeli withdrawal from occupied territory, an end to Israeli attacks and the release of Lebanese detainees.
He said ongoing US-sponsored negotiations in Washington aim primarily to reinforce Lebanese sovereignty and de-escalation, calling for national solidarity to help Lebanon navigate the current phase with minimal damage.
