Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi said that “the people live in daily anxiety, trying to hold on to what remains of hope, while the country is going through division, tension, and heightened sensitivity.”
In his sermon during the Mass he presided over at the Basilica of Our Lady of Lebanon in Harissa, he added that “is happening today on social media in terms of verbal warfare is not freedom of opinion, but a worrying decline in values and language, and an assault on human dignity that no one has the right to violate. Lebanon is greater than passing disputes.”
Rahi also said: “How many times has Lebanon been destroyed and then risen from the rubble, because the hand of God has never abandoned it? And just as God performed great works through our Holy Mary, He also works miracles in our country.”
