President Joseph Aoun received US Ambassador Michael Issa at Baabda Palace following his return from Washington, where they discussed recent developments particularly efforts to consolidate the ceasefire and halt attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The meeting comes ahead of further talks in Washington aimed at achieving progress toward peace and stability along the border, with a potential announcement to be made to that effect.
Ambassador Issa reaffirmed the United States’ continued support for Lebanon and its institutions.
President Aoun, in turn, expressed Lebanon's appreciation for ongoing US backing in efforts to restore stability in the country.
