On the occasion of Labor Day, Joseph Aoun paid tribute to workers across Lebanon, commending their daily efforts and ongoing sacrifices in support of the nation’s economy and dignity.
In his message, the president acknowledged the severe and exceptional challenges the country has faced in recent years, noting that workers have borne a significant share of the burden. He highlighted the impact of economic instability, rising living costs, and successive crises that have placed increasing pressure on citizens’ daily lives.
Despite these hardships, Aoun praised the resilience and determination of Lebanese workers, describing them as the backbone of the national economy. You have demonstrated rare perseverance and a strong commitment to productivity, he said, emphasizing that their role remains essential to the country’s recovery.
The president also referred to reform efforts launched in coordination with the government, aimed at stabilizing the economy and fostering growth. However, he noted that recent conflict has further complicated the situation, delaying progress and deepening existing challenges.
Nevertheless, Aoun reaffirmed his commitment to rebuilding and restoring confidence, as well as creating job opportunities that uphold the dignity of Lebanese citizens. He stressed that both the presidency and the government remain dedicated to improving labor conditions through stronger protections, enhanced social security, and fair working environments.
Workers are the foundation of Lebanon’s economy, Aoun concluded. Without them, no reform plan can succeed or endure.
