Bou Saab: Consensus Among MPs on Two-Year Extension of Parliament
Deputy Speaker of Parliament Elias Bou Saab said after a meeting of the Parliament Bureau that there is consensus among MPs on extending the Parliament’s term, noting that a two-year extension is justified.
He added that Speaker Nabih Berri agreed to convene a session on Monday to discuss three draft laws proposing the extension.
Bou Saab also noted that the current electoral law has proven to contain many flaws, stressing that it could be amended during the two-year period and that fully implementing the Taif Constitution remains essential.
