Interior and Municipalities Minister Ahmad al-Hajjar, Defense Minister Michel Menassa and British Ambassador Hamish Cowell signed a memorandum of understanding on the UK’s Integrated Security Assistance Programme (ISAP) for Lebanon at the Interior Ministry in Sanayeh.
The signing was attended by Internal Security Forces Director General Major General Raed Abdallah, Lebanese Army Deputy Chief of Staff for Planning Brigadier General Georges Saqr, and officials from both ministries and the British Embassy.
Al-Hajjar, Menassa and Cowell said the partnership reflected the depth of Lebanese-British cooperation and their commitment to strengthening Lebanon’s military and security institutions.
ISAP aims to bolster security, reduce drivers of instability and strengthen institutions against internal and external threats.
The program supports the Interior and Defense ministries, including the ISF and Lebanese Army, and seeks to enhance capabilities against security threats, including terrorism and criminal violence.
Support includes rehabilitating and equipping facilities, strengthening infrastructure and digital systems for intelligence-led policing, and providing training.
