A massive wildfire broke out in the outskirts of the Chouf town of Batma, spreading across large forested areas and engulfing pine trees and olive groves. The flames came dangerously close to residential areas and inhabited homes, fueled by strong winds that helped the fire spread from the valley up toward the hills bordering the towns of Maasser and Barouk.
Firefighting aircraft joined Civil Defense teams and local residents in efforts to contain the blaze, which caused extensive damage to crops and forested areas.
The fire reignited in the afternoon, prompting emergency crews to work to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to nearby dense forests and woodlands, in an effort to avert further damage.
