Social Affairs Minister thanks South Lebanon for warm welcome and hospitality
Minister of Social Affairs Haneen El Sayed said in a post on X that she visited southern Lebanon, where she met resilient people in frontline villages who continue to hold on to their land despite ongoing challenges.
She announced support for more than 6,000 families in the districts of Hasbaya and Marjayoun through cash assistance, as part of a broader government program that also supports over 140,000 displaced families outside shelter centers, in addition to 6,000 steadfast families in the villages of Bint Jbeil.
She emphasized that the resilience of people in southern Lebanon represents the first line of defense against displacement, adding that supporting those who remain in their villages is just as important as supporting displaced families, as it strengthens the chances of return and helps preserve the country’s social fabric.
She also thanked the people of the South for their warm welcome and hospitality, expressing hope that the coming days will bring greater stability, safety, and better conditions for all of Lebanon.
