A daily ministerial meeting was held at the Grand Serail chaired by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and attended by several ministers to follow up on the needs of displaced people and to meet shelter and relief requirements.
Following the meeting, Information Minister Paul Morcos said the prime minister briefed participants on the latest developments and renewed his thanks to countries that have sent financial or in-kind aid to Lebanon.
Morcos explained that in-kind assistance is arriving by sea and air, under the supervision of the relevant Lebanese ministries and with the assistance of shipping companies, due to the difficulties currently affecting maritime and air navigation in the region.
He added that Salam also addressed the urgent humanitarian Flash Appeal launched yesterday at the Grand Serail in the presence of António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, aimed at mobilizing international support for Lebanon.
Morcos said the prime minister praised the initiative, noting it would help support Lebanon’s growing needs to provide relief and shelter for displaced people. Salam also reviewed efforts with the ministers concerned to ensure the continued supply of fuel oil, maintain telecommunications services, and implement emergency response plans across ministries.
