Army Commander General Rodolph Haykal visited the 7th Infantry Brigade at the François Al-Hajj Barracks in Marjayoun, where he reviewed the operational situation in the south Litani sector and met with officers and soldiers. He praised their steadfastness and sacrifices amid ongoing Israeli attacks on various parts of Lebanon, which have resulted in casualties and fatalities.
He emphasized that the army is Lebanon’s solution and the guarantor of its unity, noting that campaigns of slander will not deter the institution from fulfilling its duties.
He stated: “We are determined to extend the authority of the state over all Lebanese territories, in accordance with the political leadership’s decision, and we remain committed to the supreme national interest to preserve Lebanon’s unity and its people. The military uniform, worn by the members of our institution, belongs to the homeland, representing all regions and communities.”
He added: “This is a challenging phase, and the obstacles are significant, but our determination, strength, and belief in the sanctity of our mission form the foundation of our success.”
He concluded by urging soldiers to stay vigilant and to ignore rumors aimed at undermining the institution.
Following this, General Haykal traveled to the town of Qlayaa – Marjayoun, where he offered condolences to the priest of St. George Parish, Father Pierre Milad Al-Rahi, who was killed in an Israeli attack on the town.
