Education and Higher Education Minister Rima Karami announced that 1,156 public schools and secondary schools, along with 75 official institutes, have been placed at the disposal of the Social Affairs Ministry and the National Disaster Management Authority, currently hosting more than 80,000 displaced people.
Speaking at a press conference at the ministry, Karami said exceptional measures were necessary to ensure the continuity of education while safeguarding students and teachers.
She noted that many students follow foreign educational programs tied to fixed international exam schedules, while only about 40 effective days remain in the academic year.
Karami said special attention will be given to students in shelter centers to maintain their connection with education, adding that distance learning will be adopted for public schools, vocational institutes and the Lebanese University, with regular classes set to resume online early next week.
The Education Minister also announced the formation of an educational crisis cell that will meet daily to monitor developments and address challenges facing remote learning.
