The Army Command issued the following statement:
On the night of 6 - 7 March 2026, at 22:50, army units detected four hostile Israeli helicopters over the Khreibeh – Baalbek area near the Lebanese-Syrian border. Two of the helicopters deployed a hostile force in the vicinity, coinciding with a heavy and wide-scale aerial bombardment of nearby villages.
In response, the specialized military units implemented immediate alert and defense measures, firing flares to illuminate the landing area, while the hostile force had gone out of sight.
The landing was accompanied by hostile shelling and sweeping operations in the area, followed by an exchange of gunfire between the hostile force and local residents after the force moved from the landing site to the Nabi Chit area. The operation continued until around 03:00 am.
Three soldiers and several civilians were martyred as a result of the violent enemy shelling accompanying the operation.
Follow-up is ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the operation.
