The Beirut Municipality’s Public Relations Department announced in a statement that, based on the directives of Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar, Beirut Governor Judge Marwan Abboud has tasked the Beirut Fire and Guard Regiments with coordinating efforts to remove all banners, signs, posters, flags, and advertisements placed on public property along the road stretching from Downtown Beirut to the Sports City in both directions. Security backup will be requested as needed.
The Fire and Guard Regiments, in cooperation with security forces, have begun implementing the directive as part of an effort to make Beirut a city free of sectarian, political, partisan symbols, and unauthorized advertisements across streets, buildings, light poles, and public spaces.
