Aoun Meets Emir of Qatar: Support Renewed, Opportunities Ahead
President Joseph Aoun thanked the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for the support Qatar has extended to Lebanon across various fields. Emir Tamim, in turn, stressed that the election of President Aoun and the formation of the government present an opportunity to reactivate this support.
He described President Aoun’s visit to Doha as important and historic for strengthening ties between the two countries, adding: “What matters to us is to see Lebanon stable, and the current internal and external conditions are favorable for that. Qatar is ready to provide Lebanon with support in the electricity and energy sectors, and in any other field, in addition to its continued support for the army.”
The Lebanese-Qatari talks were launched with an expanded meeting at the Amiri Diwan in Doha between President Aoun and Emir Tamim, followed by a one-on-one meeting, and will end with an official lunch.
