Jaber Discusses Tripoli Refinery Proposal with US Envoy
Finance Minister Yassine Jaber discussed with US envoy Morgan Ortagus the potential reactivation of the Tripoli Refinery to process Iraqi crude oil via the pipeline from Baghdad through Syria.
He tied the proposal to recent political changes in Syria and called for lifting Caesar Act sanctions to enable the project. Jaber stressed that this would support Lebanon’s energy needs, restart exports, and aid Syrian reconstruction and refugee return.
Ortagus took note of the proposal without commenting.
