In line with his directives that the decline in fuel prices and global costs must be reflected in domestic prices, the Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Bisat, issued a decision today to reduce the price of a loaf of Lebanese white bread by 5,000 LBP.
Under the decree, the price of a medium-sized loaf of bread sold to consumers at bakeries throughout Lebanon has been reduced to 70,000 LBP (down from 75,000 LBP), while the price of a small loaf at bakeries for consumers has been reduced to 45,000 LBP (instead of 50,000 LBP).
This decision is accompanied by intensified monitoring campaigns by the Ministry of Economy and Trade through the Consumer Protection Directorate, with the aim of cracking down on any violations of the new prices and ensuring that bakeries comply with the set pricing.
