UK Foreign Secretary and Labour MP for Pontefract, Castleford and Knottingley, Yvette Cooper, called for an end to Israel’s military escalation in Lebanon, warning that the conflict has resulted in civilian casualties, mass displacement, widespread destruction of infrastructure, and a shrinking space for diplomatic efforts.
In a statement on X, Cooper stressed that the ongoing escalation must end, while also calling on Hezbollah to cease its attacks on Israel and disarm.
She further urged all parties to respect the ceasefire agreement and engage in negotiations in good faith, emphasizing the need for a diplomatic path to prevent further deterioration of the situation and restore stability to the region.
