The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:
In recent days, the Israeli enemy has persisted in escalating its assaults against Lebanon, targeting civilians, residential buildings, and facilities in various areas. The most recent attack struck locations in Beirut’s southern suburb and the South last night. These aggressions come alongside its continued occupation of Lebanese territory and its ongoing violations, which have become a daily assault on Lebanon’s sovereignty, with total disregard for the ceasefire mechanism and the efforts of the Monitoring Group for the Cessation of Hostilities.
The Army Command condemns these attacks, especially the latest one, which occurred on the eve of the holidays—an evident attempt by the enemy to hinder Lebanon’s recovery and progress amid available positive circumstances.
In this context, the Army Command indicates that, immediately after the Israeli enemy issued its threats, it began coordinating with the Monitoring Group to prevent the attack. Patrols were dispatched to several sites for inspection, despite the enemy’s rejection of the proposal.
The Army Command reaffirms its commitment to the implementation of Resolution 1701 and the cessation of hostilities agreement. It also stresses that the Israeli enemy’s continued violations of the agreement and its refusal to cooperate with the Monitoring Group undermine the role of both the committee and the army. This may compel the military institution to suspend cooperation with the Monitoring Group regarding site inspections.
Despite all this, the army continues to confront challenges with determination and resolve, persistently carrying out its complex missions to assert state authority across all Lebanese territory and to safeguard the security of Lebanon and its people, fulfilling its sacred national duty, which remains an absolute priority no matter how severe the difficulties.
