President Aoun Mourns Pope Francis: "A Loss for All Humanity"
President Joseph Aoun mourned the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, stating:
A loss for all humanity. He was a powerful voice for justice and peace, a defender of the poor and marginalized, and a tireless advocate for interfaith and intercultural dialogue. Here in Lebanon, a country of diversity, we feel the loss of a dear friend and strong supporter. The late Pope always held Lebanon in his heart and prayers, consistently calling on the world to support it in its trials. We will never forget his repeated appeals to protect Lebanon and preserve its identity and diversity.
On behalf of the Lebanese Republic, its president and people, I extend my deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the Holy See, the global Catholic Church, and to all the faithful who loved Pope Francis and were moved by his noble message.
We will forever remember with reverence and gratitude the late Pope’s noble humanitarian stances, and we pledge to continue his path in promoting the values of dialogue, tolerance, and the building of a world marked by peace, love, and justice.
