Ortagus Responds to Hezbollah’s Qassem with a “Yawn”
The US envoy to Lebanon Morgan Ortagus responded to the recent speech by Hezbollah Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem, in which he reiterated the party’s refusal to disarm.
Ortagus reacted by reposting a message quoting Qassem’s remarks, adding only the word “yawn,” without providing any further explanation.
Her comment sparked reactions from activists on social media — some described it as a fitting response to Qassem, while others interpreted it as suggesting that Hezbollah’s insistence on keeping its weapons is nothing more than a delusion or fantasy.
In his speech, Qassem had warned against any attempt to disarm Hezbollah, rejecting the idea of surrender and stressing that “the resistance in Lebanon is here to stay.”
