Lebanese Forces: Those who failed are longing for the days when there was no state!

  • Wed November 4 2026 4:13 pm

A few figures from the dark era, operating under the name ‘National Front,’ staged a sit-in yesterday outside the Ministry of Energy and Water, voicing a series of demands and slogans.

These figures who have failed and who apparently long for the days when there was no state, are unaccustomed to seeing genuine reform efforts at the Ministry of Energy. Such efforts are being led by a reform-minded minister and a sovereign-minded statesman working to restore the rights of Electricité du Liban (EDL) and put an end to the accumulated problems and practices that have brought the sector to its current state.

If these people are genuinely concerned about electricity and citizens’ rights, they would be better off staging their sit-in outside the public institutions that refuse to pay their dues to EDL. That is where their protest would have meaning and serve a purpose, rather than demonstrating outside a ministry trying to address a heavy legacy of failure and waste.

But it seems that these people, who long for the days when there was no state, a period we have yet to fully leave behind, are troubled by the state beginning to reclaim its role and rights. They are failures to begin with, and their protest proved even more of a failure than they are.
