President of the Republic Joseph Aoun on Wednesday received the Board of Directors of Beirut Airport Enterprise (BIAE), headed by Chairman Mohammad Shatila, in the presence of Public Works and Transport Minister Fayez Rasamny.
The delegation included board members Walid Choucair, Sleiman Jaber, Jalal Haidar, Adel Hassaneiddine and Daisy Hanna.
During the meeting, Aoun was briefed on the broad outlines of the authority’s proposed development plan for Rafik Hariri International Airport and the measures required to implement it.
The President expressed his support for efforts to modernize the airport, improve its operations and bring its facilities and services in line with international standards.
Rafik Hariri International Airport is Lebanon’s gateway to the world and the first impression visitors have of our country, Aoun said, emphasizing the responsibility of the airport’s management to enhance performance, improve passenger services and ensure the highest safety standards.
He stressed that modernization should reflect Lebanon’s ambition to rebuild a modern, well-organized state capable of keeping pace with international developments.
Aoun urged board members to work as a unified team, placing national interests above personal considerations.
He called for management based on efficiency, transparency and accountability, with a commitment to safeguarding public funds and restoring confidence in state institutions through tangible achievements rather than promises.
