A delegation from the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lebanon (CCI France Liban), headed by its president, Maxence Duault, visited Beirut Port and met with its Chairman and Director General, Marwan Nafi, as part of the inaugural edition of the chamber’s Une Nouvelle Perspective initiative, aimed at introducing members to Lebanon’s strategic institutions and facilities.
The delegation toured the port, gaining firsthand insight into its operations, workflow and role in supporting economic and commercial activity in Lebanon and the wider region.
During a subsequent discussion, Nafi outlined the port’s history, strategic importance and longstanding ties with France.
He reviewed ongoing developments in the maritime transport sector and the port administration’s modernization projects, noting that several initiatives had progressed from planning to implementation.
Nafi explained that these projects aim to expand the port’s capacity, modernize operations and strengthen its position in regional and international trade networks, particularly amid evolving commercial corridors, including the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).
He also highlighted plans to improve logistics connectivity and reinforce Beirut Port’s role as a strategic regional logistics hub.
For his part, Duault thanked Nafi for hosting the delegation and providing an opportunity to examine port operations firsthand.
He emphasized the importance of direct dialogue and exchanges, reaffirming the chamber’s interest in maintaining cooperation on matters of mutual concern.
