  • Tue October 27 2026 1:50 pm

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri received Lebanese Democratic Party leader and former minister Talal Arslan at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain El-Tineh, where discussions focused on political and security developments in Lebanon and the region, as well as national affairs.

Speaking after the meeting, Arslan highlighted the importance of the recent meeting in Tehran involving influential regional countries, expressing hope that the talks would produce positive results for stability across the Middle East, particularly in the Arab region.

He stressed that regional developments inevitably affect Lebanon and expressed hope that diplomatic efforts would help preserve peace and stability.

Arslan also emphasized the importance of safeguarding Lebanon’s internal stability and preventing sectarian tensions, describing Berri as a key guarantor of national unity and civil peace.

He said Lebanon’s ability to maintain domestic cohesion while avoiding the negative repercussions of regional conflicts would represent a major achievement.

Separately, Berri received MP Michel Murr for discussions on political and security developments, general affairs and legislative matters.

The Speaker also met with MP Adib Abdel Massih, who conveyed greetings from Kataeb Party leader MP Samy Gemayel.

Following the meeting, Abdel Massih said discussions addressed regional and domestic developments, alongside specific legislative issues.

He stressed the need to preserve national unity amid escalating regional tensions and continued Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon and other areas.

Abdel Massih called for strengthening support for the Lebanese Army and security forces, emphasizing their responsibility for extending state authority throughout Lebanese territory.

He also discussed the significance of the previous day’s four-party meeting in Tehran, concluding that Lebanon’s national unity and internal stability remained essential to overcoming the country’s current challenges.
