ESCWA Chief meets Aoun
Following a meeting with President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, Executive Secretary of United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia and UN Under-Secretary-General Rania Al-Mashat emphasized Lebanon’s special place within the United Nations system and ESCWA’s work.
Al-Mashat said ESCWA’s presence in Lebanon reflects a longstanding partnership and confidence in the country’s role as an Arab platform for dialogue, ideas and regional cooperation, stressing that the relationship goes beyond merely hosting the organization’s headquarters.
She reaffirmed ESCWA’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at strengthening stability, reinforcing state institutions and advancing recovery, reform and development. Al-Mashat also highlighted the importance of investing in national institutions and capacities as the foundation for building a more stable and prosperous future for Lebanon and the wider Arab region.
