Arnoun Municipality Warns of Threats to Beaufort Castle, Calls for International Action
The municipality of Beaufort Castle in Arnoun warned that Israeli forces continue to target the area surrounding the historic fortress through airstrikes, artillery shelling and what it described as statements aimed at justifying potential attacks on the site.
In a statement, the municipality expressed deep concern over the repeated incidents and warned that further escalation could pose a serious threat to the castle, which it described as a landmark of exceptional historical, cultural and national significance.
The municipality called on the international community, cultural heritage organizations and human rights bodies to intervene urgently to halt attacks affecting civilians, homes and heritage sites, particularly Beaufort Castle. It also urged the adoption of measures to protect both civilians and Lebanon’s historical and cultural heritage from destruction or damage.
