Head of Al-Karama Movement, MP Faisal Karami, received MP Walid Baarini at his residence in Tripoli, where they reviewed the latest political and developmental developments on the Lebanese scene, particularly the situation in northern Lebanon and the challenges facing citizens amid the difficult economic and living conditions.
The discussions also addressed the issue of detained Islamists, stressing the necessity of passing a fair general amnesty law that would do justice to the wronged, especially the Islamist detainees, and put an end to the suffering of hundreds of families exhausted by years of waiting, deprivation, and pain.
Both sides emphasized that justice cannot be selective, and that keeping young men behind bars for years without fair and humane solutions represents a national and humanitarian wound that must not continue. They called for addressing this issue with a spirit of responsibility, compassion, and fairness, away from political calculations and vendettas, in a way that restores hope to families who have paid a heavy price and continue to wait with patience and pain.
The two MPs also underlined the importance of strengthening dialogue and cooperation between various national forces, especially Sunni MPs, in a way that serves Lebanon’s interests and preserves the unity and stability of its people.
